Prime coats, often also called primers, are an important link between the substrate on site and subsequent coverings or coatings. They are mainly used to ensure stable and sustained adhesion to the substrate and the top coating. In addition, they often assume a protective function for other system structures such as epoxy resin coatings. Water or steam pressure, heavy residual moisture in the substrate or existing contamination with oils or greases can be suppressed or eliminated with the aid of special material properties.
The SCHOMBURG product range in the field of special primers has been in use for many years worldwide in the most diverse areas of application and enjoys a high level of recognition from both tendering and contracting companies and their employees. The application spectrum ranges from very ‘green’ concrete surfaces, dirty workshop floors and industrial areas to swimming pools, saunas and steam baths, where high steam pressure and the associated problems can usually be expected.
i Easy and secure priming The deeper a primer penetrates the substrate, the stronger the bonding and therefore the security of the overall system structure. We recommend applying the primer layer with a nylon roller, 6 mm pile, with textured polyamide covering.

A wide range of products with many application possibilities. Prime coats protect the substrate on the rear side and simultaneously create bonding for subsequent layers. The properties of the respective substrate and the requirement of the coating systems specify the selection of suitable primers.

Examples of use: • Concrete surfaces with no vapour barrier or with damaged vapour barrier • Soiled or oil-contaminated concrete floors • Very fresh (‘green’) concrete surfaces (> 5 days old) • Concrete surfaces with high residual moisture • Concrete surfaces in direct contact with the ground without rear waterproofing • Protection of high quality laying materials from dampness acting on the rear side
